April S. Marius, noted artist and designer, has exhibited her work both nationally & internationally and has been the recipient of numerous awards for her creative work. April, multi faceted natural talent has been sharing her vision through the arts and fashion for more than thirty years. She studied Anthropology and Archaeology in college which is revealed in her choice of natural materials and textural use of primitive treatments. April also has an extensive background in specialty retail management. She managed the Personal Shopping Division at Bergdorf Goodman and initiated & cultivated the Corporate Gift Service which developed into a multimillion dollar business. Being noted as one of the most innovative Corporate Gift Directors she was sought after by Calvin Klein & Barneys New York. She went on to establish & develop the Corporate Gift Service at Barneys New York Madison Ave. before venturing off into establishing her own label in ‘98.
Throughout the years her fashion accessories have been featured at Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York and numerous specialty boutiques nationwide. Some of her celebrity clients were Lena Horne, Iggy Pop, Sly Stone, Daryl Strawberry and his wife, and other influential people in the field of business, entertainment and athletics. April became known for creating wearable art in leather & suede in unimaginable palettes and textures in natural art forms made from the same. Recently she has been exploring two forms of containers. One that she calls “art bags” handbags designed and hand constructed with true old world European craftsmanship. She uses hand selected luxurious leathers, semi precious metals and exotic skins to transform them by utilizing their natural beauty to create an Haute Couture bag that belongs on the red carpet. Each bag is a one of a kind creation that is evolving into a notable brand in the private collectors market.
April the artist encompasses her passion and zest for life in whatever medium she chooses at the moment. She describes her work as her life force and her gift.
